| Open Space - We live in one of the most beautiful areas in the state. I intent to fight to keep it that way. We need to preserve our Open Space and use it efficiently.

Energy Infrastructure - The energy crisis is affecting us all over. One way we can cut down our energy costs and usage is to invest in infrastructures that are energy efficient. There are many ways we can accomplish this from investing in solar and wind energy on a state level down to our local levels, to supporting self-sustaining, LEED Standard public and municipal buildings. Together we can help lower the costs for everyone.

Farms - The 50th District has a long history of farming. I believe that it is important to us and to our heritage to keep our farmers farming. One great way we can do this is by sending our local milk to our local school systems including Eastern Connecticut State University, UCONN and Quinebaug Valley Community College as well our prison systems. There are sustainable ways to do this that will greatly benefit our community.

Mass Transit - With gas at $4.00 a gallon, we need to connect our district to places where we work and spend our leisure time. Many of us are commuting distances that take an hour or more to reach and the result is hitting our wallets hard. Let's get some mass transit systems to Northeastern Connecticut to help us all out.

Progressive Income Tax - We need an income tax system that is fair for everyone. Currently 34 states already have a Progressive Income Tax, and 9 more do not have tax earned income. Connecticut is one of the few states in the country that continues to keep a flat rate tax system that applies to everyone. Our neighbors are concerned that new government projects in combination with a shaky economy and a severe energy crisis could make it difficult for us to make it through the winter. We need a tax system that effectively allows all of us to contribute to our district in a fair manner so that our neighbors are not forced to move when a new project is started in our district.

| FULL TIME - Lastly, if elected I will make legislating my full time job. The issues of the day are too important to not give 100% of my time to them. I promise that as the State Representative for the 50th District I will never allow us to lose important battles that effect our daily lives because of other work obligations. I am an Army Veteran, a school teacher and a proud mother of three. I understand what it takes to be a hard worker and lets face it - WE NEED A FULL TIME LEGISLATOR! |
